Give Me 5 for Friday: 5 Responses to Trolls

What are "trolls"?

Oh, they are those lovely people that like to make negative comments behind the protection of their computer keyboard.  They willingly like other pages, then put in their 2 cents whenever they have negative crap to spew.

I had my first experience yesterday with trolls.

I posted this "self-shaming" pic on my facebook page in response to other bloggers doing the same.

It was supposed to be funny.  It is fu*&ing funny.  End of story.

99% of people viewed it as it was intended to be seen...as a joke.  But a few people didn't agree.  Whether they posted their opinion on my page, on another person's page, or they shared it because they thought that I sucked so much...the bottom line is that they didn't like my picture.

For my Give Me 5 for Friday, here are 5 comments and my response:

1.  This mom is a bitch.
WOW!  I will tell you right now that I am most certainly NOT a bitch.  But if you question the type of mother I am, well yes, bitch might be a good word to describe me.  I am a freakin' awesome mom.  I usually don't toot my own horn.  But there you have it.  I am doing my best...and it seems to be working.

2.  Sad, sad, sad.
What is sad is that some parents do not have a sense of humor to deal with parenting issues.  I feel bad for them...and their children.

3.  This mom is lying to their child.
For crying out loud, REALLY?  It was a f*^$ing GRANOLA BAR!  The box was on the counter.  I thought it was empty so I said they were all gone.  Then about 10 minutes later I went to put the box in the recycling bin (See I recycle.  Doesn't that score me any points?) and there was one left.  Did I tell my daughter?  NO.  Because I wanted it and I know she would waste the high fiber, chocolate chip Trader Joe's granola bar.  So I ate it very quietly.  Plus she had already had a whole wheat blueberry waffle and a pear.  She will survive.

4.  This mother should stop taking pictures and go to the grocery store.
Well...this mother has PLENTY of food for her children.  Plus, this mother has a home daycare and provides 2 square meals and 2 snacks a day for SIX children...free of charge (besides the fee that they pay for child care).  So F&*K off!  Thanks.

5.  I feel bad for the child of this mother.
Don't feel bad for her.  She is wonderful.  She is smart and funny and happy.  And I can assure you she will have a freakin' awesome sense of humor when she is older:)

So that's that.  I will give trolls NO MORE attention on my blog or facebook page.  Zip.  Zero.  Not a one.  From now on, I will ban.

But I have to admit that I did get a kick out of the drama.

Now, TGIF!  I need a beer.

  2. Good for you mama!!! Hubby and I saw your picture and trough all the laughter started recounting all the times that each of us had done this very thing! There is not a single parent out there that has not hidden in the corner of a room /closet / bathroom, so they can eat something in peace and not have to share!!! Anyone who hasn't is either not a parent, or lying!!! :)

Keep up the good work

  5. I thought your shame picture was GENIUS!!! I don't understand people who don't have a sense of humor. And who is 100% honest to their children anyway??? Do they say there's no Santa, Tooth Fairy? Do they tell them the dead raccoon on the side of the road just splayed out his entrails and must have died a horrible death. No. You say it's SLEEPING! And that my friends, is lying to your kids. You go girl!

  7. I thought it was funny. I can't count the number times I have hid somewhere to eat a treat that I knew my kid would beg for, but then would waste. I can't believe the one guy went to the point of insulting your educating of your child...What is up with that. He doesn't know you and his 3 year old reading and writting is frankly a little freaky. My three year old has been working at holding a stylus/crayons for over a year and still can't do it properly. He knows his colors, numbers and is working on his letters though. Which is where a normal 3 year old should be. I feel sort of a kindred spirit with you because of the name of your blog. I feel somewhat sane frequently. My kids are making me that way.

  8. Wow. I posted my shame, too. Can't wait to hear what the haters have to say about it. (The makers of Febreeze will, quite possibly, send me free samples, though.)

  9. I don't know you but from your troll responses we could be best friends!! F*&@ the haters and eat your granola bar. I have done that too many times to count. My daughter is now a happy and well adjusted grown up. Really. She is. I'm not just making it up. :-)

  12. Let me confess that I go through my kids' Halloween candy every year when they are asleep and 'confiscate' all the good chocolate!! I mean, what would they know about Godiva and Dove chocs anyway?!!

  13. I thought it was awesome and as a mother I can't deny that I haven't done similar things. How sad that people have such boring lifes that they need to take something that is meant to be funny and turn it into that. You definitely have way more people that think you are awesome than not. So forget the haters. :)

  14. Stupid trolls. Whatever. You're a funny lady and they're just dumb. So there. :-)

  15. Good. Lord. Don't these trolls know that granola bars are a SNACK--a luxury, even? Now if you were some starving mom in Africa holding a sign up about how you lied to your child and drank the last 2 ounces of clean water...then, yeah, I might throw some judgement your way. But a GRANOLA BAR? Sorry, but being out of granola bars does NOT require a trip to the grocery store. Trader Joe's would go out of business if I stopped eating my kids' granola bars. I don't know why I have my knickers all in a knot over this, but...there it is. I loved your sign.

  16. That is bs... If they don't like it they can move along. Did they at least put a name, so you can check and see how a wornderful fake mom does things? Did any of them Fedex you a gift card to a grocery store? Do they write ridiculous parenting how-to's for a living and send you a signed copy so you can raffle it off for shits and giggles? No. didn't think so. You don't have time for people without a sense of humor, run along little trolls. I have a troll that has posted comments on 48 out of 80 posts anonymously and deletes them really so they come to my email and not onto the blog.

  17. LOVE IT! I tell my 4 year old she doesn't like my favorite type so that she doesn't eat them!!!

  18. Geez, I feel sucky for missing all of this! FYI:::I think you're awesome! I feel the need to make a blog of self shaming pics now too! Eff 'em all!!

  19. I cannot believe this crap! Well, i can. Had a run in myself, and i didnot handle it as well as you are. I have KNOWINGLY said there were no more granola bars when there were like 3, and then i hid and ate them. So what. You are awesome, i cannot stand stick up the butt holier than thou Mom bullies/trolls. Way to call'em out and tell it like it is!

  20. Oh, for Christ's sake. You were GOING FOR THE LAUGH. Why don't people get this? And, as far as "lying to your kids" every parent does that. Hello - Santa? The Tooth Fairy? People seriously need to lighten up and look at the humorous side of life. And, so what if you ate the granola bar. Did you beat the daylights out of your kid? No? I sometimes tell my kids we're out of milk because I'm saving it for my coffee. A lie? Yes, but better for the entire world if I have my morning cup of heaven. Screw those trolls.

  21. i feel sorry for the suckers who don't have a sense of humor. It was funny...screw them if they can't take a joke.

  22. I can't believe I missed all this drama, but WTF??? So far I've found there are a few people out there who just don't get it, which I in turn, just don't get. Like Frugalista said up there, are these people saying they've NEVER lied to their kids? They can't be saying that, because it's just not possible, so what they're saying is that they just don't have a sense of humor about it, which is exponentially more sad than a well-fed kid not getting one stupid granola bar. I mean, she'll get a granola bar someday - these people will probably be boring and judgemental for the rest of their lives. You keep rockin it, mama! :)

  23. People are ridiculous. And I feel sorry for people who don't have a sense of humor to get them through life- can you imagine how much it sucks to be them?? It's so easy for people to judge others when their lives are clearly perfect :)

Your blog is hilarious and I'm a new follower. Cuz I like to laugh :)
